Choice of Communication Design

My design will have both image and type on the design. I want to do this so that the design looks balance. I will use a structured composition within my design so that that it flows well and also to create a modernist style. I want to create a clean look to my design in order to produce a professional look. I will have some strong colours on the design that will draw the eye in of consumers, which will lead them to take in the information. I will combine different elements from the quote, the typical person breathes 370,000 cubic meters of air in the lifetime into my design by using the words; breaths and cubic in order to illustrate the information.

The tone of my design will be quite soft and cool but with some small use of bright colours in order to draw the eye in to the design.

Here are some examples of information design that I find visually appealing. I like the fact that they are legible and use a clean modernise style, which is what I am aiming to do within my work.

Mood Board

This is a mood board that I have put together containing a range of images that I feel relate and represent the brief. By doing this it gives me a visual representation of the brief at the start and helps me to start generating my ideas.

Summary of the Brief

Summary of the Brief

When reading the brief I felt as though I had a lot of freedom to express myself. We where given three different quotes and had to pick one and an A2 poster design that would represent the quote. At first I was not sure which of the three quotes to chose, however I chose to use…

The typical person breathes 370,000 cubic metres of air in their lifetime

I like this brief as it allows me to show my interpretation of information through design ad show the way that I visualise things.

Communication Design

RIZN Communication Design

http://www.rizn.info/

We provide individual solutions and strategies for all-round development of you business online.”

I think that this unique selling point is quite similar to Tak! Design’s as it is trying to but across to the client that they will they produce unique and effective solutions for their clients. The word strategy also makes it sound as thought they put that little bit more effort in than other companies would to ensure that the service is the best that it can be.

Annual Report ‘05

http://www.rizn.info/#/identity/wcif-anual-05

This piece of work has a very professional, formal style to it that suits the theme of the piece. It is a small booklet based on workshops for civic initiatives foundation. This would either be delivered to the consumer by the company or left in environments suited to the theme for consumers to pick up if they wanted. The design is mostly dominated by simple typography but is balanced out by a large, sharp image on a single page. This makes it very easy to read and take in the information. The duotone colour scheme has worked very well and added to this professional style along with the modernist approach that has been taken.

Product / Service

Tak!

Tak! is a design group made up of designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers and filmmakers. Tak have a large list of clients from around the world and use their wide range of skills to provide us with creative and unique. Based in Birmingham, this group of creative’s make sure that their work has been done very professional from start to finish as they feel that the initial ideas are just as important as the final piece.

“…Not just any old stuff; well considered, well designed and well developed stuff, which gives our clients a unique difference…”

I thought that this is their unique selling point as it is trying to it is saying that they can supply the client with their own unique work that will make them stand out from other. In addition, it says, “…well designed and well developed stuff …”. To me this sounds as thought they are passionate about what they do and shows that they are willing to make sure that they produce the best quality of work that they can for a client.

The brief was to create a fold-down zine to promote the UK info sessions and announce the main event over in Toronto in October. The design is a lo-fi cross hatched blend of typography, audio-cables and photo-illustration. All the content is at an angle to encourage the process off unfolding the zine into the poster."
